Teaching at UW: Clarifying Expectations & Grading Using Rubrics

Students need specific feedback on their assignments to understand why they received the grade assigned by an instructor and how they could improve. Rubrics provide clear criteria regarding what is expected for an assignment and guide specific feedback on why a certain grade has been given. Using a rubric also helps instructors grade more efficiently and clearly explain expectations.
In this session, you will:
- Identify a rubric that could be modified for a course assignment.
- Evaluate how rubrics can make the grading process more objective to help both instructors and students.
