Position title: WisCEL Program Director
Sarah Mason has been working in UW–Madison’s teaching and learning community in several capacities since the early 1990s. For more than 20 years, she worked as an education researcher at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research on evaluation and research projects including studies on using instructional technology in teaching, professional development, using data to inform teaching practices, and improving teaching in STEM education. In 2013, after evaluating the first year of a new program on the UW–Madison campus, she decided to apply some of her accumulated evaluation and research experience to promote innovative teaching and improve the use of technology for student learning on campus. Since 2013 she has been coordinating that program – the Wisconsin Collaboratory for Enhanced Learning (WisCEL) – which provides the instructional services, resources and infrastructure to support active and blended learning pedagogies in technology-enhanced classrooms.
