Community-based learning (CBL) courses integrate meaningful community service to enhance students’ understanding of course content. This session will share strategies for designing undergraduate CBL courses (200–400 level, non-capstone) that create meaningful partnerships and impactful student experiences. Featuring Anna Courtier, Ph.D., WISCIENCE Director of CBL, and cross-hosted by the Morgridge Center Engaged Scholars Series.

Career readiness can be a powerful motivator for students. This workshop introduces practical strategies and resources for embedding career readiness into courses. Participants will explore ways to connect academic content with transferable skills, support students in articulating their learning, and connect with school/college career services. Featuring Steven Catania, Ph.D., and Michael Kruse, M.A., of SuccessWorks.

Gain insight into the diverse perspectives, experiences, and strengths international students bring. Heidi Evans, Distinguished Teaching Professor in Global English Language Learning, and Dan Pell, CTLM Senior Teaching and Learning Consultant, will share strategies for supporting international students’ learning, participation, and belonging. You will leave with approaches to reduce barriers and foster inclusive, globally responsive teaching and learning.
