Emily Baker leads the Instructional Design functional group, a talented team of instructional designers who work with units across campus to create innovative and inclusive learning experiences for UW–Madison students in the online space. In this role, she oversees the development of courses in online undergraduate programs, professional degrees and certificates, and any additional courses or programs that come to the center in need of instructional design support. Emily started her career as a K-12 educator including a year teaching aboard, which inspired her to return to school for an M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Educational Technology. She is a proud Badger, having received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from UW–Madison. After graduating, she found a job at UW–Madison as an instructional designer, the perfect combination of her background in education and passion for technology-enhanced learning. Over the years, her role morphed from instructional design work to managing an instructional design portfolio to ultimately directing a team of instructional designers. Emily enjoys her current role as it allows her to work with a variety of campus stakeholders while also staying current with cutting-edge instructional design practices.
