Jeff is an avid proponent of fostering more equitable and inclusive mentoring practices at UW–Madison. He joined CTLM in October 2022 as a partner in building collaborative mentoring communities across campus.

After earning his B.A. in History and East Asian Studies in 2010, Jeff worked in Japan for three years as a translator on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program before coming to UW–Madison to pursue his Ph.D. in the Department of History, where he wrote on international networks and ideas of global citizenship in Japan’s port cities. While working on his dissertation, he leapt at every opportunity to help create more effective mentorship practices in his work on departmental committees and as History Lab Coordinator. He also sought new ways to implement best practices in instructional design in the courses he designed and taught as instructor of record.

When not at work, Jeff can be found in the kitchen cooking up the Sicilian and Italian-American foods of his youth; taking long hikes with his partner; and snuggling up with his two cats on the couch.
