Lisa Jong’s professional background centers on supporting inclusive teaching across the disciplines. She taught first-year writing for several years; an ensuing chain of events led her from avidly consuming instructor support resources on campus to becoming involved herself in the rewarding work of supporting instructors in achieving their goals for student learning. Lisa arrived at the UW in 2019 from a role with the University of Michigan’s Center for Research on Learning and Teaching. Her interests in the field of educational development include professional learning communities, student writing and discussions in disciplinary gateway courses, and exploring the role of writing and writing assessment in anti-racist pedagogies. Outside of work she enjoys movies and podcasts, as well as learning to play the bass recorder.
