Abby joined the CTLM team in September 2023 after completing her doctorate from UW–Madison’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in the School of Education in May 2023. While completing her doctorate, Abby served as a teaching assistant in her department, worked for the Coalition for Leading Anti-Racist Schools with Dr. A.J. Welton and Sandra Taylor-Marshall, and served as a qualitative researcher for former UW-Madison professor Dr. John B. Diamond.

Prior to working in higher education, Abby taught Spanish to students in grades K-4 for six years. In both her PK-12 and higher education work and studies, Abby is motivated by the need to create learning spaces where learners and instructors thrive as their authentic selves.

Abby’s dissertation, “Equity in Suburbia: A Critical Ethnographic Case Study Exploring White Educators’ Sensemaking around Equity and Equity Professional Development,” used methodologies within an educational context that help her conduct qualitative research as part of CTLM’s evaluation work.

Outside of work, Abby enjoys playing tennis, walking her dog, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
